@jhilmil At the annual meeting of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS), several speakers made the case for the addition of ONL to the next McDonald revision. Arguments ranged from the inherent injustice that patients with a diagnosis of optic lesions should have to meet three symptoms of MS to get a diagnosis, while other patients require only two, to the possibility that early presentation with ocular symptoms could be an indicator of a more severe prognosis.

@clifford There have been over 27,000 monkeypox cases in the United States, and the number of new cases has steadily trended downward since early August. Most cases resolve within 3 weeks, but if the virus is introduced into the eye (eg. from touching the eye area), it can potentially cause compilations such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis, and loss of vision. National US surveillance data suggest about 5% of patients with monkeypox have ocular symptoms, but there is no available data for the current outbreak.

@bubbly Thankfully, the recently published ROMEO study has arrived at such findings. Investigators behind this multicenter, retrospective study assessed the intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering effect of canaloplasty and trabeculotomy with the OMNI System (Sight Sciences, Inc, Menlo Park, California) in 48 pseudophakic patients with open-angle glaucoma. Patients were stratified in equal numbers into two groups based on their baseline IOP (> 18 mm Hg or ≤ 18 mm Hg). Primary success was defined as IOP ≤ 18 mm Hg and ≥ 6 mm Hg or a 20% reduction from preoperative IOP with same or fewer number of ocular hypotensive medications and no additional IOP-lowering surgery or laser.

@avocure I suggest you go and get the readings of both of your eyes done. sometimes the readings are the same as earlier it’s just the thought process. Expectations may lead to such things you should compare the readings before and after the surgery and then you can come to the conclusion. Most of such experiences are just only due to your thinking that the eye that underwent surgery is clearer and the other not whereas nothing had been done to another eye. All your doubts can be answered by going through the readings and consulting your doctor.

@hameer Because you were hit "squarely in the eye" when playing volleyball, if you haven't already done so I would encourage you to have your eye checked by a doctor (preferably an ophthalmologist) just to be on the safe side.

@biston lens should be taken out at night. When you leave them in that long you increase your chance for infection. Also, the front surface of your eye starts to distort due to lack of oxygen. However, if you are unable to tell by looking in the mirror if your lens is out, I would recommend having your eye doctor take a look. They will easily be able to tell with the slit lamp. If you can’t tell I would not dig and dig trying to remove it. Best of Luck

@maureen-0 You are right about the castor oil but it’s the cold-pressed pharmaceutical type you need, it is a very pure sterile one and not the run-of-the-mill type you would find in Boots, you could possibly buy online but please check the companies credentials you buy from first. I have read lots of good things about it being very good for many eye conditions even helping with cataracts it might be wise to have a discussion with your doctor first your eyesight is very precious to go taking any chances. If your doctor OKs it and you do try then I'm sure many on here would be interested in how you get on.

How long have you had dry eyes & what drops etc are you using?
warming your eye up helps unclog the tear ducts. Then you can get some preservative-free eyelid wipes that help cleanse your eyes of all the gunk and bacteria that comes out after. Then 20 minutes after you do that, put your eye drops or eye gel in. Our eyelids and eyelashes have a lot of bugs in them so regular cleansing can help prevent styes and eye infections, as well as help, keep them lubricated.
Dry eyes are much more common now because everyone has computers, tablets, and phones that they are in front of a lot.
When you are in front of a screen, make sure you remember to blink and if you can, try and give yourself little breaks here and there. I know that isn't always possible if you are working through.

@angiel Whenever I have experienced this it's either due to lack of sleep, tiredness or extreme stress, or both. Get rid of those causes and the twitch usually goes as well.
If your actual eyes are twitching then it's something connected to the eye muscles, so if you are convinced it's your eye then see your optician.
Many people say it’s their eye when in fact it's the tiny muscles around the eye, but not necessarily the eyelid.
Do you spend a lot of time using screens? If you think you do then cut back, especially in the evening before bed.

@timkob Sounds like an allergy. I would recommend seeing an eye doctor or an allergist. It doesn't really look serious. A doctor can put your mind at ease.

@sukhsingh Just an update on this, was diagnosed with Optical Neurosis. Gets better on its own apparently. I was diagnosed with strong steroids and on the mend.

@richardson If anything goes into your eyes, they will immediately react by producing lots of tears. That is their natural safety mechanism. Your eyelids are also programmed to shut immediately if the eyes see a problem approaching.
The most likely thing you will get in your eyes is dust or pollen and the tears will wash it out. If you are in great pain after something gets in your eye and it doesn't come out that is the time to seek help.

@stephanie-0 I had an ear infection, it took 4 weeks of antibiotics (ear drops) and over 2 weeks later my ear was unblocked.
Maybe in your case, it need a bit more time if it will not improve just go to the doctor

@hailey I do put things in my ears. My wife is a heavy snorer and I'm a light sleeper - it's either move to another bed or use earplugs, and I don't want to move. Anyway, I had the problem with wax for many years before my wife's snoring started to bother me - probably the earplugs have made it worse.

My doctor did suggest putting a few drops of olive oil into my ears regularly as you suggest, but he said he had no idea if it would work. I was just wondering if there was anyone here who had actually tried it (or anything else).

I'll probably try doing that, and then maybe go to the doctor before the wax has built up to be a problem, and ask him to check my ears. Maybe syringing at that point will not need to be so forceful. Anyway, thanks for the response

@ashesh-agarwal Hi. I as well had my stapedectomy back in 8 August. Dizziness is quite expected and is normal. I as well dizzy especially during the first week and it started to improve gradually. I am having a pulsation sound now since the operation yet was assured by the doctor that I will go away. Wish you all the best and remember to avoid getting any water in your ear.

@heathy The instructions say that some burning may occur for the first few days. I have been using the spray for a week and am still get burning. Due to the end of treatment today. I am not entirely convinced that the infection has completely disappeared, although, the nurse said that the canals did not show signs of inflammation, I still feel that there is something 'not quite right. The problem is, however, much better.

ear spray contains acetic acid. I would expect this agent to burn sensitive skin, such as that found in the ear canals

@ashmita Contact lenses are generally very safe but are associated with a small risk of microbial keratitis, most commonly caused by bacteria, and which is the only sight threatening complication of their use

@manaswi It sounds like you might have a case of dry eyes or it could be to do with the very high pollen count this year. I suffer from dry eyes and have done for the past 6 years or so. Hylo teardrops are very good but take about a week or so to work.
