@vickey Hello, both high blood pressure and cholesterol are related. When the body can’t clear cholesterol from the bloodstream, that excess cholesterol can deposit along artery walls. When arteries become stiff and narrow from deposits, the heart has to work overtime to pump blood through them. This raises blood pressure. Here are a few lifestyle changes that will manage high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Eat healthily, exercise regularly, reduce weight, reduce sodium intake, quit alcohol and smoking.

@sharon Hello, Caffeine may cause a short, but dramatic increase in your blood pressure. Some researchers believe that caffeine could block a hormone that helps keep your arteries widened and caffeine causes your adrenal glands to release more adrenaline, which causes your blood pressure to increase. You should quit or decrease your caffeine intake. If you can’t quit caffeine avoid caffeine right before activities that naturally increase your blood pressure, such as exercise, weightlifting, or hard physical labor. To see if caffeine might be raising your blood pressure, check your blood pressure before drinking a cup of coffee or other caffeinated beverage and again 30 to 120 minutes afterward. If your blood pressure increases by about 5 to 10 points, you may be sensitive to the blood pressure-raising effects of caffeine. Then you should quit it. Consult your doctor as well. Thank you.

@ajinkey Hello, it is tested so that doctors can know whether she has gestational diabetes or not. The reason for gestational diabetes is during pregnancy the placenta makes hormones that cause glucose to build up in the blood. Usually, the pancreas can send out enough insulin to handle it. But if the body can’t make enough insulin or stops using insulin as it should, blood sugar levels rise, and women get gestational diabetes.
There are several possible causes of high blood pressure during pregnancy like weight gain, not getting enough physical activity, first-time pregnancy, and smoking, etc. Common risk factors for high blood pressure, such as obesity, can be minimized through diet and exercise. Pregnancy causes hormone shifts as well as psychological and physical changes. This can bring on stress, which can make high blood pressure harder to manage.

@jacy Hello, it is not healthy if your blood pressure increases after eating as it should decrease. When a person eats, their body redirects blood to the digestive tract to aid with digestion. This causes a temporary decrease in blood pressure elsewhere in the body. To compensate, blood vessels outside of the digestive tract constrict, causing the heart to beat faster and more forcefully. This helps maintain healthy blood pressure throughout the body. You should limit your salt intake, and increase potassium, magnesium, and fiber in your diet. Blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day and night but you should discuss your situation with your doctor. A person’s blood pressure typically drops slightly following a meal. However, foods high in sodium can cause a temporary increase in blood pressure if you don’t see any improvement after reducing sodium intake consult your doctor.

@bren Hello, I never tried it but heard and read a lot about this. According to a few studies Cinnamon appears to help dilate and relax the blood vessels, which may help lower blood pressure. Cinnamon is easy to incorporate into meals. Concentrated cinnamon supplements are another option. It is important to be cautious since dietary supplements are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. If you are taking other medications or herbal supplements, always consult with your healthcare provider. You can give it a try after asking your doctor. Thank you

@gourav-0 Hello, yes, it does help. Thiazide diuretics are recommended as one of the first drug treatments for high blood pressure. There are three types of diuretics Each type of diuretic affects a different part of your kidneys. Some pills combine more than one type of diuretic or combine a diuretic with another blood pressure medication. Which diuretic is best for you depends on your health. Diuretics may require you to avoid or eat certain foods for example low salt diet. Consult a doctor before taking diuretics as Diuretics are generally safe. Side effects include increased urination and sodium loss. Diuretics can also affect blood potassium levels.

@abhijeet-kakar Hello, It helped me. I was able to lower my blood pressure along with exercise, medication, and a proper diet. Milk products contain key blood pressure-lowering nutrients, including calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Milk products also contain a special type of protein, called bioactive peptides, which have been shown to have a positive effect on blood pressure control. Include whole grains such as whole wheat, brown rice, and oats, Unsalted nuts, Legumes such as split peas, lentils, and kidney beans, and Vegetables and fruits to lower your blood pressure.

@mukeshh Hello, exercise is very effective in lowering blood pressure. Exercise lowers blood pressure by reducing blood vessel stiffness so blood can flow more easily. The effects of exercise are most noticeable during and immediately after a workout. Lowered blood pressure can be most significant right after you work out. Some of the best exercises for high blood pressure are Cardio exercises (As a hypertension patient, you can choose some light cardio exercises like brisk walking, dancing, jumping ropes, swimming, cycling or try jumping jacks.), Strength training, Climb the stairs (Strength training). You can consult your doctor for a clear picture about the type, intensity and duration of the exercise. You should also make necessary changes to your diet to control high blood pressure like reducing salt intake, adding more fibre to your diet and many more.

@jason Hello, Yes it does affect the eyes. High blood pressure can damage the tiny, delicate blood vessels that supply blood to your eyes, causing:

Damage to your retina. Damage to the light-sensitive tissue at the back of your eye (retina) can lead to bleeding in the eye, blurred vision, and complete loss of vision. You're at even greater risk if you have diabetes in addition to high blood pressure. Fluid buildup under the retina. Choroidopathy can result in distorted vision or sometimes scarring that impairs vision. Nerve damage. Blocked blood flow can damage the optic nerve, leading to bleeding within your eye or vision loss.
High blood pressure is usually a chronic condition that gradually causes damage over the years. But sometimes blood pressure rises so quickly and severely that it becomes a medical emergency requiring immediate treatment, often with hospitalization. In situations where you experience Chest pain, personality changes, trouble concentrating, irritability, or progressive loss of consciousness seek medical help. Thank you.

@ritesh Hello, yes Hypertension or high blood pressure is one of the most common health conditions. It is a long-term medical condition that is caused by the high force of blood against artery walls. Hypertension is also responsible for various health diseases such as heart disease, heart attack, vision loss, chronic kidney disease, and even stroke.
The main causes of getting affected by primary hypertension are lifestyle and genetic factors. Eating foods with high amounts of salt, tobacco smoking, and excess consumption of alcohol can increase the risk of high blood pressure. Hypertension can be caused due to excess use of birth control pills, narrowing of kidney arteries, and endocrine disorder. This type of high blood pressure tends to appear suddenly and other factors responsible for secondary hypertension are obstructive sleep apnea, thyroid, alcohol abuse, and illegal drugs such as cocaine. Usually, high blood pressure shows no symptoms. Most of the people affected with Hypertension have no idea about the ailment. Here are some symptoms: frequent headaches, nose bleeding, and short breath, and dizziness. Prevention includes regular monitoring, consuming a limited amount of salt, a balanced diet, exercise, quitting smoking and alcohol.
