@eira Hello, It is not uncommon to have this reaction to hormonal changes that occur with your cycle. However, douches, topical sprays, etc. are not recommended. They can disturb the natural balance that keeps infection down. Yeast infection after the period is due to High levels of estrogen causing Candida fungi to overgrow. Because of this, it's common to get a yeast infection around the time of your period. Some people get yeast infections around the same time of their cycle every month, a condition called cyclic vulvovaginitis. You may try eating yogurt every day - the kind with active cultures. Some women find it helps. Wear only cotton underwear and avoid perfumes, bath oils, etc. Also, discuss this with your doctor. Thanks!

@oriole Hello, it could be a yeast infection. It has similar symptoms as your mentioned. Vaginal yeast infections have a common set of symptoms, like soreness, burning during urinating, itching, redness, and rash. if there’s an imbalance in your system, these bacteria won’t work effectively. This leads to an overgrowth of yeast, which causes the symptoms of vaginal yeast infections. Each yeast infection is different, so your doctor will suggest a treatment that’s best for you. Treatments are generally determined based on the severity of your symptoms. Thanks!

@heathcliff Hello, Hormonal changes, during your period, could kill the bacteria living in your vagina and cause a yeast infection. Hormonal imbalances are linked to yeast infections. This is because it disrupts your body’s natural balance of progesterone and estrogen. High levels of estrogen cause Candida fungi to overgrow. it’s common to get a yeast infection around the time of your period. People who get yeast infections around the same time of their cycle every month have a condition called cyclic vulvovaginitis. Yeast infections can often be treated at home with over-the-counter (OTC) antifungal medication. Don’t worry ask your doctor to prescribe you antifungal medication.

@solange Hello, Coconut oil has demonstrated antifungal properties and is effective in killing strains of the Candida fungus, whose overgrowth causes yeast infections. I used coconut oil on the affected area, the yeast infection was bad(swollen & sore). The affected area was on fire, soaked the area & it worked to relieve both itch/burning sensation. My recommendation would be to consult a doctor before trying any home remedy as it can cause serious complications. Thanks!

@kinzay Hello, I think it is herpes. Both conditions herpes and vaginal yeast infection may cause burning and itching of the vulva and vaginal opening. Both conditions may cause painful urination. A vaginal yeast infection doesn’t usually cause blisters and ulcers. Herpes presents with multiple blisters or sores on the same red base. Also, Herpes has scanty clear discharge from the blisters with a thin consistency and Herpes lesions can be preceded by fever, chills, and flu-like symptoms. Please talk to your doctor. Thanks!

@siera Yeast infection is common in women, especially during pregnancy. Increased estrogen in your pregnant body can throw off the normal balance of yeast and bacteria in your vagina. This may let the yeast overgrow. Another cause of yeast infection during pregnancy can be Diabetes which isn’t well controlled, Recently took antibiotics or steroid medicines, and If your sexual partner has a yeast infection, it can be passed to you during vaginal sex. No, a yeast infection won't hurt or affect your developing baby. To treat it take all the preventive measures and medication prescribed by your doctor. Thanks!

@romm Hello, Younger adults can develop oral thrush, especially if they have an impaired immune system. Oral thrush is a fungus infection caused by candida albicans, which lives naturally in the colon, digestive tract, and skin. It can appear on the tongue, on the inside cheeks, and in the throat. Severe cases can involve the esophagus. There are many extraneous variables that can cause oral thrush. One of them is stress. Stress can lead to many physical problems and even certain diseases. stress can affect fungus levels in the body. Though candida albicans lives naturally in the body and on the skin, stress can spur an overproduction of it. The candida fungus feeds on certain foods you eat (i.e., sugar and wheat gluten), making you feel tired and languid. It also irritates the mucus lining in your colon and causes fecal impactions. These impactions block vital nutrients from being absorbed into the bloodstream. Over time, stress can lower your immunity and make you more prone to fungus infections such as oral thrush.
