I have a wisdom tooth that has been impacted for 30 years but never caused any issues so my dentist recommended that I just leave it alone because it was so close to a nerve. Of course, now it's starting to cause some pain and problems because of the tooth next to it but two dentists have told me that it's going to be so risky to remove it because it could cause permanent nerve damage and facial paralysis. I don't want to cause permanent damage to myself. Has anyone had any luck with extractions in this situation? I wonder if removing the tooth next to it could resolve the pain.

@pavani I had my wisdom teeth extraction. As with your case, I had a tooth close to the facial nerve and we decided not to extract that tooth. no problems yet. However, the dentist told me that in the event I started having problems the procedure he will use is to cut the tooth down to below the gum line. That would get most of the tooth and bone would fill in the void over time. I cannot remember the procedure name but you can probably find it online.
