Swollen Gums 2 Weeks after Extraction

I had my upper molar extracted a month ago, 2 weeks after the extraction I am feeling that my gums around the extraction site are swollen, but when I look in the mirror they don't look swollen. And I have still a little on and off pain since the extraction. 3 weeks after the extraction and a day after I finished the antibiotics my regular dentist looked at the site and took an x-ray, and said it should be ok, healing well. But I still have the same exact feeling of gums being swollen and on and off pain !! Is this normal?
