@trina Research suggests that plant-based diets reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease, but few studies have examined the effect of these diets on the risk for stroke. Moreover, published research on this question has yielded conflicting results, the researchers note. Two previous investigations showed no association between a vegetarian diet and risk for stroke mortality, but one study found that vegetarian patients were at increased risk for total and hemorrhagic stroke.

RE: Biological Bases of Increased COVID-19 Morbidity and Mortality in Men
@tiash In females, estrogen signaling might also play a protective role in preventing lethal SARS-CoV infections. In a mouse model infected with SARS-CoV, orchiectomy did not affect the disease outcome in male mice, but ovariectomy or estrogen-receptor antagonist treatment led to increased mortality in females. This observation strongly supported the notion that females have stronger innate and adaptive immune responses than males; thus, females are generally more resistant to viral infections than males.

Treatment and pathophysiology of delayed ejaculation?
Male orgasm is defined as a subjective, perceptual-cognitive event of peak sexual pleasure that in normal conditions coincides with the moment of ejaculation. Delayed ejaculation is typically a self-reported diagnosis; there is no firm consensus on what constitutes a reasonable time frame for reaching orgasm. The presence of a normal sexual excitement phase is a prerequisite for male orgasmic disorder (MOD). In other words, if the absence of orgasm follows a decreased desire for sexual activity, an aversion to genital sexual contact, or a decreased lubrication-swelling response, diagnoses such as hypoactive sexual desire disorder, sexual aversion disorder, or male erectile disorder might be more appropriate, even if they all have a final common outcome (ie, anorgasmia, defined as failure to experience an orgasm).

RE: What is facial decompression surgery?? who needs it?
@awanish Nerve decompression surgery can help those living with facial paralysis regain facial function and improve facial symmetry. It is performed when the facial nerve is being compressed in the bony canal of the temporal bone. In some cases, the facial nerve is so inflamed that it becomes pressed, or cramped, within the confined space of the bony canal. When facial nerve compression surgery is performed by an experienced facial paralysis surgeon, releasing the pressure on the nerve can alleviate facial paralysis symptoms. Facial nerve compression can occur for various reasons, including infection, inflammation, or other damage to the nerve itself. In any of these instances, patients can gradually lose the ability to move their facial muscles over a period of weeks or months. A head or neck tumor or stroke can contribute to facial paralysis and associated compression of the facial nerve. In addition, a cancerous tumor located near the facial nerve or in the area of the brain that delivers signals to facial muscles can lead to paralysis. There are also instances in which surgery to remove a growth can cause facial nerve compression and/or paralysis.

Headache due to depression and anxiety!!
Lucy is a 34 year-old single mother who is living with her fiance and her 5 year-old son. Lucy was referred to the Medical Centre by her general practice with a 4-week history of headache, the symptoms of which were so bad that she was forced to resign from work. A subsequent CT scan indicated the presence of a tumour in the right frontal lobe. Upon the CT diagnosis, Lucy experienced symptoms of depression and anxiety, which have progressively worsened. She is now awaiting the results of a cranial biopsy.

RE: How to protect children from third wave of COVID?
@trina More and more children are contracting Covid infection and this may continue during the third wave as well. It is imperative for children to understand carefully what their parents are saying. They should use a mask, hand sanitizer, and talk with other children or family members by maintaining a social distance of 6 feet. Avoid being around sick people and try to cover the mouth while coughing and sneezing. Do not believe in any information circulating on social media. View information only from the trusted and reliable sources. Do not fall prey to rumors.
As parents, you must see to it that all the elderly members of the family should get inoculated for Covid-19. If you are jabbed then you are unlikely to cause the infection to the children in the house.
If any of the family members exhibit symptoms of Covid-19 like cough, fever, or body pain then isolate yourself from the children, or else they will contract the virus.
Don’t forget to disinfect the frequently touched surfaces by children like doorknobs, handles, faucets, and even the furniture. -
RE: How to Prevent Data Breaches in Healthcare?
@rikrounak The US government pays great attention to medical record security, which is regulated by HIPAA and EDI in healthcare.
There are several efficient practices every healthcare provider should adhere to:
Conduct annual cybersecurity checks to ensure everything stays in compliance with HIPAA security rules and robust technology standards.
Employ only reliable third-party partners for your ongoing tech maintenance or outsourced projects.
Keep your medical staff trained and educated regarding data security and cybersecurity principles, risks, best practices, and consequences of non-compliance.
Keep your devices and healthcare records under professional tech supervision: make sure staff log out of all unattended devices, anti-malware checks are regularly scheduled, etc.
Make sure all systems are up-to-date and protected against unauthorized access.
Manage a Wi-Fi network for guests and visitors so that no unauthorized users can access any restricted areas of your facility’s network.
Manage your IT infrastructure to make sure all hardware is protected and well-functioning.
Hire a qualified in-house IT manager. -

RE: Shin splints treatment??
@minnu She must stop using the Asics DS Trainer running shoes, and revert back to a stronger shoe. In order to control her over pronation, and to treat her flat feet / Shin Splints, it would be important to use prescription orthotics. Using a digital 3D foot scanner, the patient’s feet needs to be scanned and measured for Carbon Fibre, lightweight orthotics. These would have soft EVA top covers and slow release pronation for cushioning. The orthotics would be designed with rear foot control to correct the over pronation while offering gentle arch support. This would allow the Shin Splints to settle by unloading the Tibialis Posterior muscles and tendons. Ice packs needs to be continued daily until the Shin Splints is settled completely. The patient should refrain from running for the time being.

RE: What are the adverse effect of metronidazole?
@ashma Metronidazole may cause dry mouth, an unpleasant or sharp metallic taste, and a change in taste sensation. For temporary relief of dry mouth, use sugarless candy or gum, melt bits of ice in your mouth, or use a saliva substitute. If your mouth continues to feel dry for more than 2 weeks, check with your medical doctor or dentist. Continuing dryness of the mouth may increase the chance of dental disease, including tooth decay, gum disease, and fungus infections.
