A recent study in The Lancet Global Health takes a pessimistic view of our ability to eradicate measles by 2100, although rubella forecasts look a bit more promising. So far, measles has been eliminated in 81 countries and rubella in 93. But factors such as antivaccination sentiment and misinformation linking vaccination to autism have led to occasional outbreaks. In addition, because the COVID-19 pandemic fueled lower routine vaccination coverage and postponed public health campaigns, some countries have also lost previously gained ground.

Metformin Linked With Less Dementia in People With Diabetes
In an observational study of more than 112,000 US residents aged 50 years or older with type 2 diabetes, new users of metformin had about a 20% lower rate of incident dementia compared to new users of sulfonylurea during 5 years of follow-up. The new users of metformin also had about a 20% lower rate of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and vascular dementia than new users of sulfonylurea, but they were not at lower risk of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or Parkinson's disease (PD).

Investigators found children who used the video game-based therapy (EndeavorRx) experienced increased brain activity related to attention function, as measured by EEG, which correlated with improvements in objective behavioral measures of attention.
