    • RE: FDA Expands Tenofovir Alafenamide (Vemlidy ) Use to Adolescents With Chronic HBV

@priya The study met its primary endpoint of percentage of patients with HBV DNA levels < 20 IU/mL at 24 weeks of therapy, Gilead said in a press release.

Overall, 10 of 47 (21%) patients treated with tenofovir alafenamide achieved HBV DNA < 20 IU/mL at 24 weeks compared with none of 23 (0%) treated with placebo.

The rates of serum alanine aminotransferase normalization were higher with tenofovir alafenamide than with placebo (44% vs 0%).

The mean percent changes in bone mineral density (BMD) from baseline to 24 weeks were numerically similar for tenofovir alafenamide- and placebo-treated patients (2.4% and 1.9% for lumbar spine, and 1.5% and 1.9% for whole body, respectively).

    • RE: Early Menopause Linked With Increased Risk of Heart Problems

@abhilan Premature menopause affects 1% of women younger than 40 years, the ESC press release stated. Prior studies have found a link between premature (before age 40 years) and early (before age 45 years) menopause and cardiovascular disease overall, but the evidence for heart failure or atrial fibrillation alone is limited. This study examined the associations between premature menopause, age at menopause, and incident heart failure and atrial fibrillation. Data were obtained from the Korean National Health Insurance System (NHIS), which provides health screening at least every 2 years and includes 97% of the population

    • RE: Angina pectoris- management options?

@lalaraj Angina is a type of chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. Angina is a symptom of coronary artery disease. Angina, also called angina pectoris, is often described as squeezing, pressure, heaviness, tightness or pain in your chest. Some people with angina symptoms say angina feels like a vise squeezing their chest or a heavy weight lying on their chest. Angina may be a new pain that needs to be checked by a doctor, or recurring pain that goes away with treatment. Although angina is relatively common, it can still be hard to distinguish from other types of chest pain, such as the discomfort of indigestion. If you have unexplained chest pain, seek medical attention right away. There are many options for angina treatment, including lifestyle changes, medications, angioplasty and stenting, or coronary bypass surgery. The goals of treatment are to reduce the frequency and severity of your symptoms and to lower your risk of a heart attack and death. However, if you have unstable angina or angina pain that's different from what you usually have, such as occurring when you're at rest, you need immediate treatment in a hospital.

    • RE: Will I become fat if I have chicken?

@kanupriya Meat is primarily composed of two basic nutrients- protein and fat. The good news is that meat is high in protein. The even better news is that some meat sources are loaded with fats that are good for your heart. The not so good news is that some meats do contain artery clogging saturated fat. Protein is the basic ingredient used to maintain and grow muscle in your body. Compared to fat, muscle uses up more energy to maintain itself. That means, the more muscle you have, the higher your metabolic rate. The higher your metabolic rate, the more calories you burn, even while you sleep! Lean meat like grilled chicken breast (skinless) is a great protein source. While all meat contains protein, not all meats are the same when its comes to their nutritional value. On to the fat in meat … the leanest meat source is skinless chicken breast, with almost negligible fat. Have it grilled in olive oil. Grilled tandoori kebabs with chicken are good sources of lean meat (skip the butter rub). Avoid curried and deep fried meat items as they’re potentially loaded with oil and fat.

But chest pain may also be caused by problems in your lungs, esophagus, muscles, ribs, or nerves, for example. Some of these conditions are serious and life threatening. Others are not. • RE: Pressure sores- home remedy?

@milaap Bed sores are commonly known as pressure ulcers and decubitus ulcers. They refer to skin injuries and underlying tissue because of prolonged pressure on the skin. Bedsores most often develop on bony areas covered with skin such as your heels, ankles, hips and tailbone. Individuals who suffer from medical conditions that limit them to change positions or those spend most of their time in bed or in a chair are at a risk of developing bed sores. Here are a few home remedies that you can use for wick relief. Turmeric paste: Turmeric can help heal bed sores. Apply turmeric paste directly on the affected area. Turmeric contains curcumin, which is a bioactive compound that speeds up the healing of your wounds. The application of turmeric paste allows better skin growth and wound contraction.
