@kanupriya The best way to conceptualize it is that it is the propensity to get angry easily or more frequently as compared to peers in response to frustration. To better understand the potential association between irritability and suicidality, the investigators reviewed results of three trials involving adults with MDD. These trials were the Combining Medications to Enhance Depression Outcomes (CO-MED) trial, which included 665 patients; the Establishing Moderators and Biosignatures of Antidepressant Response in Clinical Care (EMBARC) trial, which included 296 patients; and the Suicide Assessment Methodology Study (SAMS), which included 266 patients.

Probiotic LGG Doesn't Lessen Eczema, Asthma, or Rhinitis Risk by Age 7
Giving the probiotic supplement Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) to high-risk infants in the first 6 months of life is not effective in lessening incidence of eczema, asthma, or rhinitis in later childhood, researchers have found. The researchers, led by Michael D. Cabana, MD, MPH, with the Children's Hospital of Montefiore, New York, said they cannot support its use in this population of children at high risk for allergic disease. RE: Pathophysiology of acute urticaria?
@lalaraj Urticaria results from the release of histamine, bradykinin, leukotriene C4, prostaglandin D2, and other vasoactive substances from mast cells and basophils in the dermis. These substances cause extravasation of plasma into the dermis, leading to the urticarial lesion. The intense pruritus of urticaria is a result of histamine released into the dermis. One study showed that D-dimer levels correlate with the severity of acute urticaria and may serve as a marker of disease severity. Individual lesions of acute urticaria can appear at different locations and fade without scarring, often in a matter of hours. The development of urticaria can be an isolated event without systemic reaction or it can be a prelude to the development of an anaphylactic reaction. Although urticaria results from transient extravasation of plasma into the dermis, angioedema is the subcutaneous extension of urticaria that results in deep swelling within subcutaneous/submucosal tissues and is associated with pain but not pruritus

RE: How to treat pathological bone fracture?
@srabani Treating a pathologic fracture depends on the underlying condition. Many diseases weaken your bones, but don’t affect their ability to heal. In these cases, you’ll likely just need a cast or a splint. Depending on the location of the fracture, you may need a pin, plate, or screw to hold the bone in place while it heals. You’ll need to rest and avoid activities that require using parts of your body affected by the fracture while you heal. Recovery can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on the affected body part. If the fracture was caused by a condition that makes it hard for your bones to heal, you may need additional treatment, such as surgery. Depending on your underlying condition, your doctor may decide it’s best to focus on managing your symptoms.

RE: Nasal polyps- how to manage through ayurveda?
@nakul Ayurveda believes in treating the disease at its root cause from within. Sodhana and Shamana both therapies were given to the patient. Sadhyovirechana with Nimbamritadi Erand taila detoxifies the body and removes the vitiated pitta and kapha doshas from the kosta. Nasya karma with Shikari taila was instilled into both nostrils and was expected to strengthen the vital functions of the sense organs by its unique mode of action through Shringataka marma. Sthanika avagundana helped to open the Vatavaha shrotas and lightened the head. The ingredients used for avagundana Dhanyaka, Haridra and Tulasi in Triphala kashaya was supposed to pacify vitiated vata-kapha Doshas. The active principle in gunja lepa is Abrin which contains Toxalbumin and Glycosides, a water soluble glycoprotein inhibits protein synthesis and causes agglutination, hemolysis and cell destruction. The internal medications also helped to pacify the vitiated Doshas and brought into the equilibrium state. The combination of both sodhana and shamana therapies as well as local gunja lepa was acted synergistically to combat against the vitiated tridoshas in pathology of Nasa arsha
