Internet-based wellness trackers and online interventions can reach targeted groups of patients and achieve significant symptom improvement, new research shows. Here at the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) 24th Congress, investigators from Madrid, Spain, presented results showing that a wellness tracker may allow the development of tailored therapies to specific patient groups by using patient profiles. A second presentation showed that Internet-based cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) modules, tested in Ireland, achieved significant reductions in depressive symptoms that were sustained over 6 months.

RE: New Type of UV Light Kills Airborne Germs, Study Says
@pritha Scientists have known for decades that a type of ultraviolet light called UVC can kill microbes, including bacteria and viruses. But conventional germ-killing UVC light can't be used in indoor spaces when people are present because it could harm the eyes and skin, potentially causing sunburn and skin cancer. UVC has mostly been limited to sterilizing medical equipment. Far-UVC light, on the other hand, has a shorter wavelength and doesn't penetrate human skin cells or eye cells. During the past decade, multiple studies across the world have found that far-UVC can destroy airborne germs without causing damage to living tissue

Within the app is a SmartBolus calculator that receives Dexcom CGM values every 5 minutes and automatically adjusts insulin up or down or pauses it based on predicted values for 60 minutes into the future and the individual's customized glucose targets.
RE: How to treat dysmenorrhea?
@falguni BR’s lower abdominal pain requires evaluation by a primary care provider. Her symptoms are consistent with secondary causes of dysmenorrhea (eg, age at onset older than 25 years, continuous pain or pain at times other than menses, heavy and prolonged menses) that are associated with a pelvic pathology, notably her history of uterine fibroids. She should not consider using OTC remedies for cramp relief, as these agents may mask the underlying problem and delay medical evaluation. Further, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs—the treatment of choice for primary dysmenorrhea symptoms—may exacerbate BR’s anemia and increase her risk of bleeding.
