    • Ramsay hunt syndrome- what is this and how to treat?

Hello, Ramsay hunt syndrome- what is this and how to treat? I would like to learn about this. Is there any home remedy to treat this condition? The most visible symptoms of Ramsay Hunt syndrome are a shingles rash near one or both ears and abnormal paralysis in the face. With this syndrome, facial paralysis is noticeable on the side of the face that’s affected by the shingles rash. When your face is paralyzed, the muscles may feel harder or impossible to control, as if they’ve lost their strength.

    • RE: Acute kidney injury- how to treat this condition?

@abhik The treatment for AKI depends on what caused it to happen. Most people need to stay in the hospital during treatment and until their kidneys recover. While you are being treated for the problem that caused your AKI, you may also have treatments to prevent problems that can make it harder for your kidneys to heal. Some possible treatments include: Temporary hemodialysis to do the work that your kidneys should be doing, until they can recover. Medicines to control the amounts of vitamins and minerals in your blood. Treatments to keep the right amount of fluid in your blood. When you return home, your doctor may ask you to follow a kidney-friendly diet plan to help your kidneys continue to heal. Your doctor may be able to refer you to a dietitian, who can help you make a kidney-friendly diet plan that works for you.

    • RE: Is HbA1c test better than fasting and postprandial sugar test?

@bodhi Fasting blood sugar test measures the value of blood glucose at a specific time. To get the accurate value it is recommended to take a blood test in the morning on an empty stomach. To get accurate results do not eat or drink food except water for 8-10 hours before the test. Fasting blood sugar value of 120mg/dl or more is termed as diabetes mellitus.
Post-prandial blood sugar test is measured after two hours of eating any meal and blood sugar values more than 200mg/dl indicates diabetes mellitus.
The HbA1C is a test that gives you the measure of average blood glucose levels over a period of last 3 months. You need not fast before the test as the test measure glucose attached to the part of red blood cells. This test is more accurate and gives a good indication of your average blood glucose level over the last 2-3 months. The normal range of HbA1C is 4 %-5.6%, values between 5.7%-6.4% indicate you are at risk of developing diabetes and above 6.5% denotes that you have diabetes.

    • RE: Topical remedy for osteoarthritis

@Abhik Advise your uncle that the Voltaren (diclofenac) 1% topical gel, marketed as Voltaren Arthritis Pain, has been approved for OTC use to provide temporary relief of joint pain from arthritis. Remind him to apply 4 grams of the gel to the affected knee(s) 4 times daily, with a maximum of 16 grams per joint per day.

    • Treatment of seasonal allergies by natural product

Hi, my cousin Lisha is a 38-year-old woman. She says her seasonal allergies have been terrible for the past few weeks. She has itchy and watery eyes, and her symptoms have gotten worse over the last few days, so she went to see her primary care physician. He diagnosed her with seasonal allergies and recommended her to take an OTC product called cetirizine. Her friend who also has seasonal allergies takes a natural product called milk thistle, which cures the friend’s allergies. The friend told Lisha that this product worked instantly for her and recommended that Lisha should also try this natural product first. Lisha is not against conventional medicine but since milk thistle is working for her friend, she figured she would try it. Can anyone recommend to Lisha regarding treatment for her seasonal allergies?
