President Joe Biden says the pandemic is over. The World Health Organization says the end is in sight. Many of us would rather talk about almost anything else, and even New York City has dropped most of its COVID protocols.

Monkeypox Treatment in Limited Supply as Cases Soar
People with monkeypox face a wide range of symptoms, from mild skin lesions to severe, debilitating pain. And experts have no reliable way yet to predict who will have the worst symptoms. There is an antiviral treatment, tecovirimat (TPOXX), but it's only available from the Strategic National Stockpile at the moment. The FDA approved tecovirimat to treat smallpox in 2018 over concerns that it might be used as a bioterrorism weapon someday. Local health departments are working with the CDC and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to request tecovirimat through a complicated, 120-page protocol. At the same time, monkeypox cases have risen to more than 11,000 worldwide, according to the CDC.

RE: Berries, Red Wine Linked to Lower Mortality in Parkinson's Disease
@minti Flavonoids are plant-derived polyphenolic molecules found in fruits such as berries, apples, and oranges; vegetables such as kale and broccoli; and beverages, including tea and red wine. They are the dietary components that give many foods their vibrant color. Certain flavonoids have been shown previously to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. A previous study by Gao and colleagues showed that flavonoids were associated with a lower future risk for developing PD. However, it did not provide evidence these nutrients improved survival rates among PD patients. The new analysis included participants from the ongoing Nurses' Health Study (NHS) of female registered nurses, which began in 1976, and male participants from the ongoing Health Professionals Follow-up Study (HPFS), which began in 1986. All participants answered questionnaires at baseline and then biennially to update information on demographics, lifestyle, medical history, and occurrence of chronic disease.

RE: Psychopharmacological treatment for Pediatric Intellectual Disability ?
@gourav In many individuals with mental retardation, behavioral problems respond to psychosocial interventions. However, situations exist in which psychotropic medications can enhance a patient's response to psychosocial treatment. Other clinical conditions require psychopharmacologic treatment at the outset. Psychiatrists are well aware of the psychopharmacologic management of various mental illnesses that meet DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria.

RE: I am suffering from urticaria, any suggestion to cure?
@minti Hives are an itchy, sometimes lumpy rash that appears on the surface of a person’s skin. Medications and home remedies can often effectively treat hives and quickly reduce symptoms. Hives are intensely itchy, discolored, raised areas of skin. They may occur anywhere on the body. Hives usually have a trigger, both allergic and non-allergic. While the symptoms of hives can be very irritating, there are many ways to treat, soothe, and get rid of them. Effective home remedies to treat hives include:
Applying a cold compress: A person can apply a cool, damp cloth to the affected area. This can provide relief from itchiness and help reduce inflammation. A person can use a cold compress as often as necessary.
Bathing in an anti-itch solution: Oatmeal and baking soda baths can soothe skin and reduce irritation. Adding witch hazel to a bath is another effective home remedy.
Applying aloe vera: The healing properties of aloe vera may soothe and reduce hives. It is advisable, however, to do a skin test before applying aloe vera to the entire affected area.
Avoiding irritants: This includes perfumes, fragranced soaps or moisturizers, and staying out of the sun. A person should also stay cool and wear loose, comfortable clothing. -
