Hey, I am a 30-year-old male. Two days back I met my friend who is a doctor. I told him about my mother who is vitamin B12 deficient. He told me that vitamin B12 plays a very important role. He even said that vitamin B12 deficiency can even cause Alzheimer’s. Is it true? Can vitamin B12 deficiency cause Alzheimer’s?

@mohit Yes, vitamin b12 deficiency can cause Alzheimer’s. Symptoms like memory loss, behavior changes, and agitation are similar to the symptoms of Alzheimer’s, people with low B12 may also experience the following:

        • Weight loss
        • Fatigue
        • Weakness
        • Constipation
        • Poor balance
        • Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
        • Depression
Treatment of low levels of vitamin B12 is quite simple. If your B12 levels are low, you generally will be prescribed a higher dose of the vitamin, either through injections or a pill you can take by mouth. Your blood levels are then tested regularly and the vitamin dose is adjusted to the appropriate level.
