Chronic shoulder pain treatment?
-
Hello, my 68-year-old boss is having 10 years of right shoulder pain in his bowing arm. Many years ago he had received sub-acromial injections for acute right shoulder pain which provided a short duration of pain relief. More recently, he notes several months of intensified shoulder pain made worse with viola playing. Over the course of his career he has had to intermittently discontinue playing due to aggravation of symptoms. Please advise some chronic shoulder pain treatment.

@ganesh The shoulder is a complex joint that allows for a wide range of movement. However, this complexity makes it susceptible to damage from overuse and injury. Pain can occur as a result of sustaining damage to any of the structures inside the joint, including the:
muscles
tendons
ligaments
bones
cartilage
The term “chronic shoulder pain” refers to shoulder pain that has persisted for longer than 6 months. The pain may be constant, or it may only be present when the shoulder joint is moving. -
@ganesh
These can be features of condition called SLAP tears.
Need further clinical evaluation and
MRI to specify the lesion.
