Obesity and its disturbing my menstrual health
-
Hello everyone,
I'm 22 years old 5`7 and 260 lbs.
I've always been obese, and as I've gotten heavier, my periods have become more and more irregular. I've heard that this is normal because fat causes there to be excess estrogen in your body, which interferes with menstruation.
My last period was in January...This wouldn't be much of a problem for me if it was really just an absent period, but I still get many symptoms of that time For example, one week I may experience cramping, anxiety, bloated feeling, a constant nauseous feeling. It seems to me, that my body is trying to menstruate but not.
I think the worst part of this is feeling emotionally delicate, and not being able to know when I'll be able to feel like myself again.Does anyone else experience this sort of thing?

@asha Losing as much as 5-10lbs can bring your menstrual cycle back to normal. If it's hormonal your doctor may prescribe something to bring it back. Before, when I was 210lbs I was irregular. Sometimes I didn't get it for a month or two, when I did get it, it's there for 3 days but it is extremely light. Now it's regular, I've dropped to 159. I work out regularly and am now a vegetarian.
