Should I take a tetanus injection after cutting my hand with a rusty rod?

Hi, I am an 18 years old male. Yesterday when I was playing football with my friends I got a cut while fixing the net from a rusty rod. Should I take a tetanus injection? I don't remember when I took the last.

@adhiraj Hello, you should get the shot within 48 hours after your injury. Don't downplay the importance of getting an updated tetanus booster after cutting your hand from a rod. This is especially important if your injury occurred outdoors in soil. Rust isn’t inherently harmful to human beings. In particular, touching rust or getting it on your skin isn’t associated with any health risks. While you can get tetanus from a wound caused by a rusty object, it’s not the rust that causes tetanus. Instead, it’s caused by a type of bacteria that may be on the object. If you’re unsure whether you’re current on your tetanus vaccine, be sure to contact your family doctor.
