Hello, I am a 27 years old female. I am dealing with adult acne. I have acne on my jawline, neck, and the sides of my face. Will applying benzoyl peroxide help me in removing acne? Does benzoyl peroxide remove acne?

@smit Hello, Benzoyl peroxide is used to treat acne. It works as an antiseptic to reduce the number of germs (bacteria) on the surface of your skin. Benzoyl peroxide products are available on prescription only. This is because they contain other active ingredients such as antibiotics or retinoids (exfoliants). Benzoyl peroxide attacks the bacteria on your skin. It also helps to unclog pores by removing dead skin to prevent blockages. This treats existing acne and may help prevent new spots. It works best when you use it regularly. Talk to your doctor before using it as it has side effects like red or peeling skin, burning or stinging (skin irritation), and the skin that you're treating becomes swollen.
