Hello, I am an 18 years old male. I am currently living alone. I have a slight fever. I don’t have a headache, sore throat, or runny nose. I don’t have any of these symptoms except fever. I think I’ll get better if I take antibiotics. Which antibiotics should I take in a fever?

@abhish Hello, Which antibiotics you need to take depends on what the cause of the fever is. Fevers are a sign of infection: bacterial, viral, or fungal. Antibiotics will only resolve a bacterial infection, and subsequently the signs associated with it. Same with the other two; there are antivirals and antifungals to treat the underlying cause of the fever. There are other medicines, such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen, that can decrease a fever regardless of cause. Antibiotics should only be used for bacterial infections to prevent the development of resistance to the antibiotics available. See a doctor before taking any medicine.
