Hello, I am a 15 years old male. Yesterday when I was taking my medicine I was suffering from a cold. My grandfather saw antibiotics. He said I should stop taking antibiotics as they weaken the immune system. Is it true? Do antibiotics weaken one's immune system? If yes, how?

@harry-wit Hello, Very rarely, antibiotic treatment will cause a drop in the blood count, including the numbers of white cells that fight infection. This corrects itself when the treatment is stopped. Antibiotics kill bacteria. They have no effect on the immune system. Some bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics and become difficult to kill but this has nothing to do with the immune system.
