Hello, I am a 33 years old female. Is it true that stress affects the skin? I have dark circles and my sin doesn’t look fresh. Is it because of my work stress? How is this related? Can anyone tell me how stress affects the skin?

@gini Hello, Yes anxiety and stress have adverse effects on the skin. Stress causes a chemical response in your body that makes the skin more sensitive and reactive. Stress causes your body to make hormones like cortisol, which tells glands in your skin to make more oil. Oily skin is more prone to acne and other skin problems. It can also be stressful to have problems with your skin. Stress causes changes to the proteins in your skin and reduces its elasticity. This loss of elasticity can contribute to wrinkling formation. Stress may also lead to repeated furrowing of your brow that may also contribute to the formation of wrinkles. Some people feel so bad about how it looks that they keep to themselves, which adds more stress. You can try ways to handle it better by taking care of yourself, exercising, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and practicing stress management techniques, such as breathing exercises, meditation.
