Hello, I am a 19 years old male. I went to my friend’s farmhouse where he had a pet monkey. His monkey Licked me. Is there any chance that I can get rabies? Should I get a rabies vaccine? It all happened Two days back.

@nik Hello, No, you will not get it if the monkey is vaccinated. Rabies is a disease that is transmitted through bites/attacks from other animals which are infected. Only mammals can get the disease. If an animal is rabid, then it can infect other animals. Rabies is almost 100% fatal. There are very few chances but to consult a doctor. If you have symptoms like fever, headache, or anxiety. Seek immediate medical care if you're bitten by any animal, or exposed to an animal suspected of having rabies. Based on your injuries and the situation in which the exposure happened, you and your doctor can decide whether you should receive treatment to prevent rabies.
