Are vitamin D and Vitamin B12 related to acne?
-
Hello, I am a 22 years old female. Last year I visited a dermatologist. He then consulted me with an endocrinologist as I was having a hairfall and suffered from a sudden weight loss. He prescribed me some vitamin D and vitamin B12 medicine as I was deficient. Last month I again started taking vitamin D and vitamin B12 medicine, since then my acne has reduced. I wanted to ask: Are vitamin D and Vitamin B12 related to acne? If yes, then how?

@utrisha Hello, Vitamin D has antibacterial properties which can prevent acne. Vitamin D is essential for your health in various ways. Vitamin D has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which are beneficial for your skin. Antibacterial properties of vitamin D can help fight bacteria that are causing acne. Acne also leads to inflammation which can be controlled with vitamin D. Several factors can contribute to acne and many can make it worse. Vitamin D deficiency is also linked with acne. Vitamin B12 B12 is necessary for cell reproduction and can be applied topically for skin benefits because it reduces inflammation, dryness, and acne. It is sometimes used to treat conditions like eczema.
