Can anyone tell me what I should not do before anesthesia?
Hello, I am a 29 years old male. I will be soon undergoing wisdom tooth removal. The doctor will give me local anesthesia before wisdom removal. I have had pain in my wisdom tooth since last week and I need to get wisdom tooth removal as soon as possible. I have an appointment with the doctor the day after tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what I should not do before anesthesia?
@mohak Hello, A local anesthetic, usually given by injection, may be used along with a sedative medication to keep you relaxed while an operation or procedure is carried out. Before the day of your surgery, you should meet with your physician anesthesiologist so he or she can gather the information that will help determine the right anesthesia care plan for you. The use of recreational drugs such as alcohol, marijuana, narcotics, and stimulants should be discussed. These substances can affect how you react to anesthesia and the type and amount you’ll need. Do not eat or drink anything for at least eight hours before your scheduled surgery. Do not chew gum or use any tobacco products. If you have had any problems with anesthetics in the past, please discuss this with your surgeon so that your anesthesia provider is aware of this before your procedure. Stop taking blood thinner medication. Discuss everything with your doctor.
