Why do people suffer from vitiligo? My cousin has vitiligo. Is it caused by some deficiencies or is there another reason? She is only 7 years old. What can be done to prevent it?

@christopher Hello, people suffer from vitiligo due to a lack of pigment melanin. It is the pigment of the skin. Melanin is produced by skin cells called melanocytes, and it gives your skin its color. In vitiligo, there are not enough working melanocytes to produce enough melanin in your skin. This causes white patches to develop on your skin or hair. It's not clear exactly why the melanocytes disappear from the affected areas of the skin. There is currently no cure for vitiligo and no way to prevent the condition. Limiting sun exposure is one of the most effective ways to prevent depigmentation and damage.
