Is there anything I can do with acne caused by hormonal imbalance during my period?
Hello, I am 18 years old female. I always eat healthy, drink, sleep a lot and take care of my skin but I always breakout during periods. How should I treat it / prevent it?
@kayla Hello, Your hormones fluctuate throughout your menstrual cycle. Just before your period starts, estrogen and progesterone levels drop. This can trigger your sebaceous glands to secrete more sebum, an oily substance that lubricates your skin. Too much can result in clogged pores and breakouts. Hormones can also increase skin inflammation and the production of acne-causing bacteria. Here are some other things you can do to deal with breakouts: Avoid irritating products, such as greasy sunscreens, cosmetics, oils, and concealers, Protect your skin from friction from things like tight collars, straps, or helmets, Wash your face after activities that cause you to sweat. If changing diet, drinking sufficient water, and sleep isn’t working do consult a doctor.
