Hello, I am 28 years old female. I gave birth 7 months ago and I am still breastfeeding. Two months back I got my first period after pregnancy. As I am still breastfeeding Can I take birth control pills? Is it recommended to take birth control pills while breastfeeding?

@mia Hello, Yes, if you're breastfeeding, you can safely use hormonal methods. They won't hurt you or your baby. Some birth control pills could curb your milk supply, which would make it harder to feed your baby. It’s true that some hormones may have that effect. But not all do. There are two types of pills. Combination ones include the hormones estrogen and progestin and another has only progestin. So when you tell your doctor that you’re breastfeeding they'll probably prescribe the mini-pill. It shouldn’t affect your milk supply at all. Thank You.
