Hello, My husband has symptoms of Acid reflux. I know certain changes in lifestyle will help in such conditions so when I was reading an article about what should be avoided when you have such a condition it mentioned that one should decrease the use of salt. Is salt bad for acid reflux can anyone tell me?

@kala Hello, Eating salt may not aggravate your GERD symptoms. However, while the exact reasons are not well-understood, consuming too much salt over a period of time may increase your risk of developing acid reflux. Those who add table salt to food appear to have a higher risk of GERD than those who never add salt to their food. High in sodium may cause acid reflux that can lead to GERD. However, in healthy people, and excessively salty diet doesn't seem to increase acid reflux. More studies need to be done, but at the very least, salt may be a heartburn trigger for certain people.
