Hello, I am fourteen weeks pregnant. I heard a lot about a good diet during pregnancy and should include food in diets that are rich in folic acid. Can anyone tell me Why is folic acid important in pregnancy?

@hiroshi Hello, When the baby is developing early during pregnancy, folic acid helps form the neural tube. Folic acid is very important because it can help prevent some major birth defects in the baby’s brain. Every woman of reproductive age needs to get folic acid every day, whether she is planning to get pregnant or not, to help make new cells.
