Why do people with PCOS get melasma?

Hello, my sister who is 28 years old has melasma she even has PCOS. She didn’t have melasma before she was diagnosed with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Even one of my friends has melasma and she even has PCOS. Can anyone tell me why do people with PCOS get melasma?

@ina Hello, Yes both melasma and PCOS are connected as they both are caused by hormonal imbalance. Which are affected by insulin resistance, an increase in androgens in the body as well as fluctuating female hormones and estrogen levels. Thank You.
