Hello, Is wound dehiscence a life threatening condition ? what should be done ? My close relative is suffering from this problem. He is 61 years old and alone. No one is there to look after him. We are worried. Please provide some suggestions.

@sampriti It is a surgery complication where the incision, a cut made during a surgical procedure, reopens. The causes include ischemia, infection, increased abdominal pressure, diabetes, malnutrition, smoking, and obesity. It can lead to evisceration so has to be managed immediately by a doctor by debridement, antibiotic therapy and re-suturing or use of another type of wound closure devices.
