Can anyone tell me why the COVID-19 patients are suffering from blood clots? My mom told me that my aunt is also facing the same issue. Can anyone tell why are so many COVID-19 patients also seeing blood clots? What is the reason behind it?

@gianna Hello, an autoimmune antibody that’s circulating in the blood, attacking the cells and triggering clots in arteries, veins, and microscopic vessels. Blood clots can cause life-threatening events like strokes. And, in COVID-19, microscopic clots may restrict blood flow in the lungs, impairing oxygen exchange. Although the exact mechanism is unclear, COVID-19 appears to cause increased activation of cells that are important in initiating the clotting process. This may lead to an increased risk of blood clots. You can reduce your risk for blood clots in general by making some lifestyle changes.
