Hello, four members of my family have type-2 diabetes. My grandmother, my brother, dad, and sister. I think it is hereditary. What should I do to avoid it? What can I do to avoid it? Is it possible to avoid hereditary diabetes?

@caleb Hello, it does sound like hereditary diabetes and there is even a slight chance you may get diabetes but there is always a way. You can make some lifestyle changes that will lower your risk of getting diabetes in the first place. Always look for pre-diabetic symptoms as in your case you may get it due to generational diabetes. You can take a few steps to avoid diabetes:-

        • Lose weight if you are overweight,
        • Physical activity like exercise, cycling, swimming, will help.
        • Eat healthy food- Fiber-rich foods promote weight loss and lower the risk of diabetes. Eat a variety of healthy, fiber-rich foods.
        • Cut Sugar and Refined Carbs From Your Diet
        • Drink more Water
        • Quit smoking
        • Optimize Vitamin D Levels
Eating the right foods and adopting other lifestyle behaviors that promote healthy blood sugar and insulin levels will give you the best chance at avoiding diabetes.
