Hello, How much sleep I Should get to prevent heart disease? My father has various heart diseases like high blood pressure. Doctor asked him to exercise, eat healthy, stay hydrated, and take proper sleep if he wants to get better. @mukhi Getting between seven and eight hours each night is the optimal amount of sleep. Not getting enough sleep can do far more than give you bags under your eyes. Not getting enough sleep also reduces your body’s production of certain appetite-suppressing hormones, which may lead to weight gain. Adults who sleep less than 7 hours each night are more likely to say they have had health problems, including heart attack, asthma, and depression. Getting good sleep isn’t just important for your energy levels it's critical for your heart health, too. You should get seven to eight hours of sleep for a healthy heart.
