Can lack of vitamin D cause leg cramps?
Hello, I am 28 years old, female. My mom is 59 years old. She told me that for the last 2 weeks she has been experiencing leg cramps at night and sometimes even in the morning. She doesn’t have any other serious condition, but she is vitamin D deficient and taking supplements for the same. Can anyone tell me is this because of vitamin D deficiency?
@titina Hello, Muscle cramps are caused by inadequate blood supply, lower motor neuron disorders, cirrhosis, dialysis, or taking certain medications can cause muscle cramps, and mineral depletion and nutrition imbalance can cause muscle cramps. Vitamin D plays a role in maintaining blood levels of calcium and phosphate, there is not enough evidence to suggest that vitamin D deficiency causes leg cramps or that vitamin D deficiency correction will eliminate them. To cure leg cramps you should exercise, stay hydrated, and eat healthy food. Thank You.
