Hi, I'm beginning to suspect my 8-month-old has an allergy. He has a runny nose with clear mucus, a dry cough, and a rash in his neck and on the sides of his body. How do I start with the elimination of possible allergens, what foods/items should be the first I eliminate to get to the cause? How accurate are the allergen tests at this age, and can they be done? What tests would typically be performed?
      Thanks

It is possible that he has: food allergy, allergic rhinitis, early asthma, and eczema. Allergy tests are very accurate at this age and range from skin tests to blood tests for common food and environmental allergens. It is important that your baby is seen by a pediatric allergist.
