Hello, I am 39 years old male. I drink a lot of water and still have a dry mouth. Is it associated with diabetes? I heard that people with diabetes drink a lot of water due to increased thirst can anyone tell me if dry mouth is a symptom of diabetes or it is normal to have a dry mouth?

@rushal Hello, yes dry mouth and diabetes are connected. Dry mouth is a common symptom in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Not everyone with diabetes will experience it, though. You can also have a dry mouth if you don’t have diabetes. If you have a dry mouth that doesn’t mean that you have diabetes but there is a possibility that you might have diabetes. Other reasons for a dry mouth could be dehydration or breathing through the mouth. Talk to your doctor as dry mouth isn’t usually a serious complication of diabetes, but it can lead to health issues if you don’t get treatment for it.
