Hello, I am 19 years old female I have been dealing with acne issues since I was 16 years old. My doctor asked me to avoid dairy products as they can cause acne. Is it true? Do dairy products cause acne? If yes then why?

@khushii Hello, Yes in some people dairy products triggers acne. But everyone’s skin is different. Whey and casein, the proteins in milk, stimulate growth and hormones in calves — and in us when we drink their milk. When we digest these proteins, they release a hormone similar to insulin, called IGF-1. This hormone trigger breakouts. Sometimes the hormones in milk can also interact with our own hormones, confusing our body’s endocrine system and signaling breakouts. If your doctor asked you to avoid dairy you should give it a try. Thank You.
