Is borderline personality similar to bipolar disorder?
-
Hello, I am 24 years old male. I am worried about my girlfriend. My girlfriend at times acts weird and stalks me. She at times gets angry and then suddenly her mood changes. When I shared this with my friends they think she has bipolar disorder. Are these two similar? What should I do?

@lua Hello, No they both are very different. They both have the same symptoms but they are different. Borderline personality is a personality disorder while bipolar disorder is a mood disorder. Bipolar disorder is a type of mood disorder, which is a category of illnesses that can cause severe mood changes. People with BPD experience instability in their self-image, moods, and behavior. It can take some time and patience to find the right treatment plan for both BPD and bipolar disorder. Medication is not a standard treatment for BPD as its benefit is unclear. Psychotherapy is a common treatment. You should talk to her. Therapy can help teach people with BPD how to communicate and interact with others and how to express themselves. Thanks
