Hello, I am 33 years old female. My father-in-law is suffering from bronchitis and undergoing treatment. I wanted to ask is bronchitis contagious? I have 9 years old daughter. I am worried. Should I take precautions so that it doesn’t affect my daughter Please let me know in the comments.

@camii Hello, it can be if it is acute bronchitis. Bronchitis can make it hard to breathe, too, and can cause wheezing fever, tiredness, and chest pain. The disease happens when the lining of the airways in your lungs gets irritated and inflamed. There are two kinds of bronchitis: Chronic, which isn't contagious but means your airways are inflamed for a long time with symptoms that last at least 3 months and recurring over 2 years. Chronic bronchitis is a serious lung disease that is one type of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Acute, which can last for 1 to 3 weeks. Acute bronchitis can be contagious because it is usually caused by infection with a virus or bacteria. Chronic bronchitis is not likely to be contagious because it is a condition usually caused by long-term irritation of the airways. If he has acute bronchitis then please take respective measures. Thank You.
