Hello, Please let me know in the comment section what should I do or shouldn't do before glucose screening. I am 23 weeks pregnant and have glucose screening in the upcoming week. Any suggestion would be helpful.

@lna Hello, The glucose tolerance test (GTT) is also called the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) or the three-hour glucose test. The GTT determines for sure whether you have gestational diabetes. Usually, you'll be asked to take this test if you've received a positive result on the glucose screening test. Before taking the glucose screening test you’ll need to consider the following conditions-:

        • Fast for a period of 8-10 hours before the test if you’re going for a fasting test
        • Stop drinking fluids before your test. Drink a good amount of fluids to retain energy, but make sure they are non-caffeinated and devoid of sugars artificial or otherwise
        • Expect your blood glucose levels to be normal and under control before and after the test, be it random or fasting. A little here and there is okay as long as the levels are not extremely high or extremely low.
          Thanks!
