Hello, I am 17 years old male. Why do I experience pain in my diaphragm while breathing? My upper stomach is often in pain when I inhale. What could be causing this? Is this a thing to be worried about? I don’t have any other sort of problem. Is it common? Pain is constant but I am worried.

@tej Hello, Yes it used to happen to me as well, as I gained some information I got to know why it hurts while breathing. When we breathe, the diaphragm tightens and relaxes as air moves in and out of the lungs. The diaphragm is a large, thin muscle at the bottom of the chest. Due to the position of the stomach just below the diaphragm, pain when breathing can feel as though it is in the stomach when it is actually coming from the diaphragm or other nearby chest muscles and tissues. Stomach pain when breathing can also have several possible causes, such as a hiatal hernia, pleurisy, or acid reflux. Pain while breathing can also indicate a medical emergency. No need to worry, but you should take a complete check-up. Pain in the stomach area or abdomen that occurs while breathing may resolve without treatment. It is always a better idea to take the help of a doctor. Thank You.
