Hello, I am 24 years old female. Since my teenage my periods last for 8 to 10 days with no heavy bleeding. According to studies periods last for 3 to 7 days but my period lasts for 8 to 10 days. I never consulted a gynecologist as I thought my flow is normal and it is normal. Should I talk to a gynecologist? Please tell me why does my period lasts for 8 to 10 days?

@akanshaa Hello, a period lasts between three to seven days. A menstrual period that lasts longer than seven days is considered a long period. A period that lasts longer than a week is known as menorrhagia. A long period may be a sign of a serious underlying health condition, such as hormone irregularities, uterine abnormalities, or cancer. It’s important to see your doctor if you experience a long or heavy period so they can identify the underlying cause or rule out more serious possible causes. There are many reasons you may have a period that’s longer than normal. It is always better to consult a doctor so that cause could be detected early can be treated. Thanks.
