Hello, today I visited a doctor along with my mother. Yesterday we got her tested and received the reports. Her cholesterol levels are 195 mg/dL. The doctor prescribed medicines to control her cholesterol but being from the non-medical field I don’t know what is considered high cholesterol. I am wondering is it high? What is considered high cholesterol?

@tanasha Hello, A normal triglyceride level is below 150 mg/dL. You might need treatment if you have triglyceride levels that are borderline high (150-199 mg/dL) or high (200 mg/dL or more). A variety of things can affect cholesterol levels. These are some things you can do to lower your cholesterol levels: Changing diet, exercising, maintaining healthy body weight, and by taking prescribed medicines. You can help her control her high cholesterol level by changing her lifestyle. Thanks!
