Should I let my 14-year-old use tampons? She says it's her body and she should have the choice in what she's more comfortable with and she promises to take them out every 4 hours. So should I let her it would be safe? I asked her to use pads instead of tampons but she wants to use tampons. I am worried. Are these menstrual cups and tampon safe or they will have harmful effects in long run?

@ranny Hello, yes they are safe to use. But, some side effects, as well as serious complications, can occur as a result of tampon use. Here are a few things that she should keep in mind to prevent complications-

        • She should wash her hands before insertion
        • She should change her tampon every 4 to 8 hours
        • Change tampon after every bowel hour
        • She shouldn’t use tampons if she is not on her period.
Tampons are a convenient option for many women. They tend not to cause an odor, don't show under tight clothes, and are practical when swimming or participating in other sports.
          Thanks!
