Hello, I am 28 years old female. I am in the first trimester of my pregnancy. I have been having more vaginal discharge than normal. Is it common to have normal or more than normal discharge during pregnancy? I am worried? Is it common, if not then what needs to be done?

@revati Hello, many women experience vaginal discharge. Most pregnant women will secrete sticky, white, or pale-yellow mucus early on in the first trimester and throughout their pregnancy. Increased hormones and vaginal blood flow cause the discharge. It increases during pregnancy to prevent infections as the cervix and vaginal walls soften. Contact your gynecologist if it smells, burns, itch becomes very thick or watery as they could be symptoms of infections.
