Yeast infection during pregnancy. Can yeast infection during pregnancy affect the baby?
Hello, I am diagnosed with a yeast infection. Two weeks back I was experiencing soreness and pain in my vagina and even had a burning sensation while urinating so, I decided to talk to my gynecologist. After examining and testing the results he told me that I have a yeast infection and prescribed me some medications. I am worried will it affect my baby? What is the reason behind the yeast infection during pregnancy?
@siera Yeast infection is common in women, especially during pregnancy. Increased estrogen in your pregnant body can throw off the normal balance of yeast and bacteria in your vagina. This may let the yeast overgrow. Another cause of yeast infection during pregnancy can be Diabetes which isn’t well controlled, Recently took antibiotics or steroid medicines, and If your sexual partner has a yeast infection, it can be passed to you during vaginal sex. No, a yeast infection won't hurt or affect your developing baby. To treat it take all the preventive measures and medication prescribed by your doctor. Thanks!
