Hello, I have scheduled Suction Aspiration where the doctor dilates the cervix and suctions out the baby. I heard bathing/showering can increase the possibility of the infection. Please let me know when can I take shower after an abortion to prevent further risks. I am 22 years old female.

@rahida Hello, You should not have a bath for 48 hours after your abortion. Another thing to keep in mind you shouldn’t shower without the presence of someone. You might expect Vaginal Bleeding, Cramping, and mood swings. If you experience heavy bleeding then please contact your doctor. Infection in the uterus and fallopian tubes is the most common complication following an abortion. Signs of infection are Fever above 101° F, Abdominal pain different than cramping, Foul-smelling discharge. Should take preventive measures. Thank you.
