Symptoms of infection after an abortion.

Hello, I have heard many women develop infections after an abortion. Can anyone tell me what are symptoms of the infection I should look for? Next week I have a scheduled surgical abortion please let me know what should I do and shouldn’t do after having an abortion and what precautions do I need to take to prevent infection. Thanks.

@ulma Hello, yes it is true Infection in the uterus and fallopian tubes is the most common complication following an abortion. Fever above 101° F, Abdominal pain different than cramping, and smelly discharge. For surgical abortions, do not use tampons for 1 week. Most of the normal side effects can be managed by resting, though prefer to take rest to return to normal activity levels. Most pregnancy symptoms begin to go away within 24 hours after the abortion, with nausea usually gone by the third day. You should not have a bath for 48 hours after your abortion. Contact your doctor if you experience any symptom of infection. Thanks.
