A synovial cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops as a result of degeneration in the spine. Because a synovial cyst develops from degeneration it is most common in patients older than 65 years old. My grandfather who is 73 years old has a synovial cyst. Please suggest some effective treatment for a synovial cyst.

@sacha Hello, Treatment generally depends on the size of the cysts and severity of the symptoms. Synovial cysts are generally harmless but can cause pain, difficulty walking, or problems such as sciatica. Treatment for synovial cysts includes resting, seeking physical and occupational therapy, and taking pain medications. In severe cases, doctors also recommend steroid injections or surgical removal of the cyst. Please contact your doctor if his symptoms get severe. Thanks.
