Hello, what should I do to treat separation anxiety in my 3 years old? He gets stressed and anxious every time he gets separated from me. It is very difficult for me to leave him at kindergarten as he starts crying. What are the ways that can help me in treating separation anxiety?

@hattie It is common in young children and normally develops at about six months of age. It can make settling into nursery or school or with a childminder very difficult. Here are a few things that you can try-

        • Practice separation- short distances at first. As your child gets used to separation, you can gradually leave for longer and travel further.
        • separations after naps or feeding
        • Keep familiar surroundings when possible
        • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is an effective form of psychotherapy for separation anxiety disorder. During therapy your child can learn how to face and manage fears about separation
